Biography:
Fernanda Cohen was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and moved to New York City in 2000 to study illustration at the School of Visual Arts (SVA). She's been working as a commercial artist for The New Yorker, MTV, The Gap, Time The New York Times, W Hotels, Soho House Hotels, Target and Scholastic among others ever since graduation.
Fernanda has also had 4 solo exhibitions (Manhattan 2004, Buenos Aires 2005, Manhattan 2006, Buenos Aires 2009) of her personal drawings and her work has been included in hundreds of international group shows including Germany, Singapore, Japan, USA, Argentina, Italy and Mexico.
Fernanda's work has received over 80 awards worldwide, including gold and silver medals from the Society of Illustrators of New York and Los Angeles, Creative Review, Communication Arts, American Illustration, Graphis, Applied Arts and Altpick.
She's been teaching undergrad illustration at SVA since 2008; she's the vice president of the illustration conference ICON6, an advisor to 3x3 magazine, and a regular writer for American Illustration and Argentine design magazine 90+10; and she runs a lecture series at the Society of Illustrators of New York.
Fernanda also has her own lines of illustrated Gap tees, Third Drawer Down linen tea towels, Reina Batata porcelain china, Lilah Bags, Il Figo Notebooks and La Plume de Louise post-it notes.
She lives and works in New York and visits her family 3 times a year.
